Mention “Top Chef,” “Divine Design,” “What Not to Wear,” or “Project Runway,” and chances are lots of kids can tell you what’s what and who’s who. A variety of craft toys on the market today can help your child find her inner chef, home decorator, or fashion designer.

One example, for any aspiring fashionistas: The Project Runway Fashion Design and Illustration Studio Set, $27 (ages 7 to 15), is an easy way to play designer. The idea is that you use the enclosed art supplies to sketch your own handbags, dresses, shoes, and other fashion designs. Markers, colored pencils, blank swatch cards, and tracing and sketch pads are included.
