Nicole Richie recently shared her “rule” for her daughter Harlow’s first birthday party: No gifts!

The expectant mom – Nicole and her boyfriend Joel Madden are getting set to welcome baby #2 at the end of the summer – says that they asked guests not to bring presents for the birthday girl on Harlow’s big day.

“We didn’t really have a party, but we invited some friends and family over. But I’m asking my friends, ‘please don’t get presents for Harlow’. She’s loved by lots of people, and that’s more than enough happiness for her! This is a rule that Joel and I decided on.”

I considered adding this to my daughter’s birthday invitations because she has enough toys to last a lifetime, but decided against it in the end.
