Candy Spelling: Tori contributed to her dad’s death
May 31st, 2009 by Clint & Mindy

tori-spelling-may-21.jpgThe rocky relationship between Tori Spelling and her mom hit a new low last week when Candy Spelling claimed during a radio interview that Tori is partly to blame for her dad’s death.

Though Tori and her father Aaron Spelling had a falling out, she says that they were able to reconcile before his death at the age of 83 in 2006, telling People at the time that she was “most grateful we had the chance to tell each other we loved one another before he passed away.”

Candy, 63, paints a different picture, however.

“I’ve always been trying to work on the relationship [with Tori],” Candy said. “I don’t know what the anger is. My daughter one day decided that she wasn’t speaking to my husband, myself and my son and that’s how it’s continued for the last, oh gosh, four or five years. It was sad because that’s what killed my husband actually. He just didn’t want to live after that. You know, he had done everything … he could possibly do for his daughter and she wanted no part of him once he couldn’t do anything for her.”

Candy later took to The Huffington Post to clarify her comments, though the clarification seems to continue along the much the same lines:

“I didn’t intend to create headlines. I was asked a question about my daughter not speaking with my family, and I answered truthfully. My husband was very ill, and he had stopped eating and taking liquids. He called Tori on a daily basis, and never stopped asking if Tori had returned his call. We had to say no every day.”

There has been no response from Tori as of yet, but it seems safe to say that her relationship with her mom is unlikely to improve after this latest claim.
