After four failed marriages, Christie Brinkley vows never to tie the knot again.
 
“I would never get married again,” she says. “With what I know I don’t see why anyone would get married.”
 
Christie’s love life made tabloid headlines last year when her husband Peter Cook’s affair with his 18-year-old assistant was revealed, along with details of his internet porn addiction. The pair ended their 12-year marriage and Christie won custody of kids Sailor, 11, and Jack, who turns 14 tomorrow.
 
“I feel like I should apologize to everybody for them having to read all of that tawdry stuff, and having it delivered to their kitchen tables when their kids are around, you know?” she tells Ladies’ Home Journal.
 
The 55-year-old model mom does remain close to her second husband Billy Joel, with whom she has 23-year-old daughter Alexa.
 
“Billy’s great. He’s godfather to Jack and Sailor, and you know there have been times when I have had to spend time with lawyers or whatever and he’s babysat. He lives nearby, so he’s like, ‘Send ‘em over here!’”
 
Despite her track record, Christie hasn’t sworn off of love completely.
 
“I totally believe in true love. And I think couples should celebrate their love over and over again.” But she adds, “Right at the beginning of a relationship, I would formalize an exit strategy.”
