Kelly Preston has canceled her appearance at the California Governor’s Conference for Women. The actress was supposed to be part of a panel titled Grief and Resilience. Preston stated: “It is with my sincere apologies that I must pull out from speaking at [the] conference. I am sorry, but I truly believed that I could do it. Otherwise I never would have said that I could. But I am still deeply in the process of healing, and it’s just too soon.” Kelly won’t be there but Kate Gosselin, Katie Couric, Elizabeth Edwards and Maria Shriver will be. This is perfectly understandable. She and John Travolta, who also has kept a low profile, just lost their son in January. The grief they feel is unimaginable to me. My heart goes out to them. Are Eric Dane and wife Rebecca Gayheart expecting a baby? Life & Style magazine reports that a source revealed, “Having a baby has been a top priority of the past six months. She turned down the role of Penn Badgley’s mother on Gossip Girl because it was based in NYC and she didn’t want to be away from Eric or travel that far. It was bad for her health. She also turned down a Hallmark movie and a Lifetime movie because she was trying to have a baby.” Recently the couple were in the headlines for a scandalous nude video of themselves with another woman. TV Guide has done some digging and turned up their eight favorite breastfeeding stories from the stars. The noteable names include Kendra Wilkinson, Angelina Jolie, Naomi Watts, Gwen Stefani, Mary-Louise Parker, Kate Beckinsale, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, and Salma Hayek.
Go here to check out why each story or moment made these women deserve a spot in the top eight!
I applaud TV Guide’s choices, but have to add in a few of my own: that creepy naked statue of Angelna Jolie breastfeeding, Rebecca Romijn’s mastering of the ‘double football hold’, Pete Wentz tasting wife Ashlee’s breast milk, and Christina Aguilera’s plot to keep her engorged breasts!
Which anecdote was your favorite?
I vote Salma Hayek’s for most touching, but Kate Beckinsale’s is hilarious (and the once I can relate to the most)!

On Thursday night Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott were spotted out to dinner without the kids. I thought, “How lucky are they?” Dining out with the kids is tough on me and the husband. At a restaurant we’re constantly saying “sit still in your chair” and “don’t eat off the floor.” Eating a meal in peace is impossible. So a date night would be great. However, since my daughter is 10-months-old I’m not ready to have a babysitter look after her. Family live far away so the only option is to bring her and our son along. I thought I would make a poll and ask the readers…

“I just take it one step at a time and do the best I can. My dad was to me what I try to be to Miley, which is somewhat of a best friend. I try my best to be a good daddy and if she wants to talk about business or music I try my best to be a good manager. I try to be all of those things because that’s what my dad was to me…” ~ Billy Ray Cyrus, dad to famous daughter Miley, talks again about his parenting philosophy. Via CNN
Could there be a Speidi baby on the way? It sounds as though at least one half of the spotlight-seeking reality TV pair is anxious for a child. Heidi Pratt’s sister-in-law, Stephanie Pratt, reveals that the 22-year-old wait to start a family with her new husband Spencer.
In an interview with MTV, Stephanie says, “Here’s the deal: Basically, Heidi got married … She’s like, ‘Thank you, God, for my marriage. What do I do?’ I really feel like she went to a bookstore and saw Newlyweds: The Wife’s Edition, and so now she’s like, ‘I still want to get a house with a white picket fence…and then probably a dog, and then we’ll move on to kids. And I want to take cooking lessons.’”
As for Spencer, Stephanie says her brother is happy to wait a while for fatherhood. “Heidi is the one with the baby fever; Spencer is not,” she notes. Stephanie hopes that Heidi will put her plans for babies on hold: “I’m like, ‘You don’t have to do that. I keep telling her, ‘You don’t have to get a dog [either].’” Via US Photo: PR Photos
Depending on whose glasses you choose to look through, Eddie Cibrian is either an absentee father, or a devoted father trying to make it through a divorce.
The 36-year-old actor told People:
From the outset I have made a conscious decision to try and keep this matter private and not discuss it in the press. While my wife and I are dissolving our marriage, we will work together to parent our two children. I love my boys very much. I want only the best for them and am committed to being a devoted father.
Eddie and soon-to-be-ex-wife Brandi Glanville are parents to sons Mason, 6, and Jake, 2.
What do you think of Eddie: absentee or devoted father? Do the pictures of him out with new girlfriend LeAnn Rimes have anything to do with your feelings?

In these final weeks of summer, it’s important to remain careful about your baby’s sun exposure. Here are some tips:
Keep babies out of the sun. A new baby’s skin burns more easily, so try to avoid any sun exposure, especially direct exposure, until he is 6 months old. Keep his skin covered, even in the shade. You shouldn’t routinely use sunscreen on a baby less than one year old, but it’s OK to use if you find yourself in a situation where you can’t keep him out of the sun. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen that’s made specifically for children with an SPF of at least 15. If your baby’s less than 6 months old, apply the sunscreen to a small area of his back first to make sure there is no irritation, and then apply only to face and hands. And keep the rest of him covered up.
After 1 year of age, break out the sunscreen. Young children should stay out of the sun as much as possible, but of course that gets harder to accomplish as they get older and more active and independent. When your child reaches one year, you can apply sunscreen regularly. Apply it 30 minutes before she goes outside and reapply it every two hours—more often if she goes swimming or is sweating. Be careful not to get sunscreen on the eyelids. As with babies, use a waterproof, broad-spectrum sunscreen made for children with a SPF of at least 15.
Cover up to protect skin at any age. A hat with a 3-inch brim or a bill facing forward and a long-sleeved shirt and long pants made from tightly woven cotton provide smart protection against the sun. Keep in mind that sand and concrete reflect the sun’s rays, increasing the chances of a burn. Most rays make it through a cloud cover and they also travel through water, so an overcast day or staying in the pool doesn’t provide protection. The internet is abuzz with talk about Anne Heche’s appearance on David Letterman last night, where she blasted her ex Coley Laffoon, with whom she has 7-year-old son Homer. It all started when David asked, “What about Homer’s father, what’s he up to right now?” “Oh gosh… Can you say ‘lazy ass’ on TV?” Anne responded. She went on to complain about the fact that even though she and Coley divorced in 2007, he’s still a part of her life. For example, Anne explained, he wants to coach their son Homer’s soccer team. “I’m divorced, but now he [Coley] wants me to come watch him run around in his little white shorts playing soccer, you know, because he wants to coach the 7-year-olds’ team. I divorced you, I don’t want to see you on Saturday!” Things got even worse when David Letterman asked the Men In Trees star what her ex does for a living. “He goes out to the mailbox, and he opens up the little mailbox door and he goes, ‘Oh, I got a cheque from Anne! Oh my gosh, I got a cheque from Anne’” she said, in reference to the $37,000 a month she pays him in spousal support. Watch the clip after the jump and tell us what you think! [youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4MI9XB6pvM[/youtube] The audience may have been laughing, but it seems Corey wasn’t. “After coming home from showing two different clients two different condominiums, I was disturbed to see Anne taking out her personal frustration on the father of her child on national television,” he told US.
