Event Description: There is no better way of spending a Saturday morning than to have your child in your lap as they are being read to. There will be special storytimes and events every month, so keep your eye out for our calendars!

So if you are like me and have kids…or are still a kid yourself…this is the exhibit for you!  Starting April 28th Turtle Bay and Shasta Regional Medical Center have teamed up to bring this unusual exhibit to Redding. From learning about vomit to attempting to remove organs from a ”patient” this is something that is sure to excite your whole family!   A short description is below but for more information and great FREE handouts to share with your class  if you are a teacher or educator visit www.turtlebay.org

Eeeuhhh, gross!!!!!!!

Sometimes it’s stinky; sometimes it’s crusty; and sometimes it’s slimy.  Explore why your body produces mushy, oozy, crusty, scaly and stinky gunk at Grossology: The (Impolite) Science of the Human Body, presented by Shasta Regional Medical Center, live at Turtle Bay Exploration park, Summer 2011.  Based on the best-selling book Grossology, by Sylvia Branzei, this science-in-disguise exhibition uses more than 20 interactive displays to tell you the good, the bad and the downright ugly about the human body and how it works. 

• Visit the Vomit center and learn the many reasons humans vomit
• Become a dust particle and walk through a giant nose to learn about air filtering, air heating, olfaction and mucus production
• Crawl and slide through a 30+ foot-long 3-D model of the digestive system
• Learn how boogers are formed by launching dirt balls into a larger-than-life nose.  Be careful though, it may sneeze and shoot back a slew of dirt balls!
• Play surgery and attempt to remove organ parts from a body without touching the sides of the patient

Are you ready for the yuckiest – and hottest – exhibition of the summer?  Grossology opens at Turtle Bay Exploration Park, April 28, 2011. 

Grossology is a ticketed exhibition.  Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for Children and Seniors (plus Park admission, $14 for Adults and $10 for Children and Seniors – Park admission is FREE for Members).

With the economy down many people we know have scaled back their budget on dining and entertainment in an effort to save some money. With the addition of the new theaters at Movies 14 (formerly Movies 10) the older Cinemark Theater Movies 8 has made some major budget-friendly changes.  In case you haven’t heard yet, they play the second-runs after they leave Movies 14 and keep the movies around for a while longer than they previously did.  I’ll outline their current rates below so you can see just how inexpensive it can be to take the family to see a flick (or as we do quite frequently now go see movies as a group a few times a month)!

Oh yeah, and if you want more incentives to go there on Mondays for the “Reel Family Time” special they have special pricing on kiddie packs too (I don’t know what it is offhand) and you can also buy a reusable plastic cup like I did that you can use at all Cinemark locations that is good for $3.00 refills throughout 2011.
